Yep. I've seen it done on the AO3, via ko-fi or whatever. I always report.

Lots of people do it on Patreon. Personally I think it's shitty but I don't get worked up about it because I can just happily ignore them. The only ones that bother me are the ones who post most of a fic somewhere free then lock down the ending. That's bullshit and I report them on AO3 when I see them.

I would be so irrationally angry if I was reading a fic and came up to a locked ending. That author would be reported and blocked for life.
