Re: What kids' media do you still enjoy?
(Anonymous) 2025-12-07 04:41 am (UTC)(link)There are some things I'd really like to rewatch or reread not just to see if they hold up, but to see what they mean to me in a completely different stage of life-- will I find myself empathizing with different characters more, asking different questions, having new thoughts about life, or will I just enjoy the trip down memory lane? Some might NOT provide a lot of entertainment for me as an adult but still hold a fond place in my heart.
For kids' media that is NOT from my childhood... well, some things I enjoyed because I'm the big brother, and so my youngest sister might be into something I was 'too old' for and I'd be able to engage with it without any shame. Cartoon movies that I saw in the theaters in high school because I was taking a ten year old with me (the first Pokemon movie fell into this category). Honestly, though, the first thing that comes to mind is Bluey. I am a child-free adult, BUT, my extended family contains the trifecta of young kids, former nannies, and animation buffs, so I see quite a lot of new cartoons, and I have enjoyed a lot of them! 'Childless Adults who Love Bluey' is apparently a category of person, and I am one of them, but I like a few of the cartoons on TV now and I like having them on as background noise-- cute enough for when I am taking a break, or doing something like housework that isn't mentally engaging, but I don't have to actually try to juggle following complex ongoing plots with doing jobs that do require my focus. But... sometimes there's a cute song.
