I happened to stumble across this episode of Mary Berry's Foolproof Dinners on Youtube and it hit me right in the feels. I loved the first seven series of Great British Bake Off, but after Mary, Mel and Sue left, it just wasn't the same. I didn't hate Prue or the other newcomers, but the magic just wasn't there for me. Watching Mary and Sue cook and banter brought all that nostalgia for early GBBO back. (I might've gotten a little choked up about that pie int he photo.) A lot of what I miss is how Mel and Sue really enjoyed food in a way that Sandi and Noel didn't. IMO, you can't celebrate baking if you don't like baked goods, it's that simple. Neither of them should've accepted the job knowing that they weren't into cake.
