I'm not necessarily a stickler for historical accuracy in costuming, but I like to know that an attempt was made.

WTF is this? I swear to god whoever is doing wardrobe for this movie is just trolling us at this point.

Wicked could have earned my eternal loyalty if they had swapped movie Dorothy out for book Dorothy. I would have loved seeing the deluge of people asking, "why is Dorothy suddenly a blonde 10-year-old badass and not a disturbingly old-looking brunette acting like a simpleton?"

I watch Chicken Run every Thanksgiving. It still makes me laugh after all these years.

Screw you, American Narnia fans. Stop bitching about Turkish Delight. I love it. My late grandma always bought me one of those "rose" flavoured octagonal tins for Christmas every year. I will never not love it, and it tastes so good.

I happened to stumble across this episode of Mary Berry's Foolproof Dinners on Youtube and it hit me right in the feels. I loved the first seven series of Great British Bake Off, but after Mary, Mel and Sue left, it just wasn't the same. I didn't hate Prue or the other newcomers, but the magic just wasn't there for me. Watching Mary and Sue cook and banter brought all that nostalgia for early GBBO back. (I might've gotten a little choked up about that pie int he photo.) A lot of what I miss is how Mel and Sue really enjoyed food in a way that Sandi and Noel didn't. IMO, you can't celebrate baking if you don't like baked goods, it's that simple. Neither of them should've accepted the job knowing that they weren't into cake.

Games thread!

I think about this too sometimes

I think a few years ago we had an anon that was in their 20s saying that "retro" sites like DW were cool among a certain set of the youths, but idk if they stuck around or if there were ever confirmed more.

I actually assume 30s is the younger crowd here these days!

I'm dying to know the reasoning behind why Heathcliff is wearing at least plausibly historical period clothing and Cathy is wearing... IDK what to call that.

How old are you? Or a rough range if you don't want to be too specific

Do you think you're older or younger than the average person here?

Ugh, I just keep pretending that this adaptation doesn't exist, because the more I see about it, the more I hate it.

American Narnia fan here. I didn't get to try Turkish Delight until I was like, 30. And frankly I understand why Edmund sold his soul for it. I think it's fucking amazing. Just thinking about it right now is making my mouth water.

I agree, I bet the average age is firmly mid-30s.

I LOLed. I didn't love my first experience with Turkish Delight, but understood that it was something from another culture, and in the context of rationing and probably a serious lack of candy/sweet things. Later on in life, I had some homemade TD and it was delicious! Far better than storebought, though I prefer the fruit flavors to the rose flavor.

Glad you have such wonderful memories of it and your grandma, OP!
