Re: End of Year Goals - if you make them how're you doing on them?

My big thing for next year is to stop spending money like there's no tomorrow. I make an ok amount of money (not great lol) and my expenses are pretty low, but god damn if I don't waste every extra penny on stupid shit these days. It's disgusting. When I first started working I saved so much money, then over time I started wasting more and more and more until it got to the point where I'm not saving a thing. It sickens me to think of how much money I've blown over the years. I want to do better about that next year. NO impulse buys, think things through, avoid temptation sites and emails and stores, etc.

Same anon. In fact. It's even gotten to the point where I spend so much on my credit card that it is a struggle to pay it off each month so I don't have to pay interest. I've managed to avoid paying interest except for one time, but still. It shouldn't be this way.

There are some other circumstances and expenses and things that I am now paying for that I didn't have in the past, but still. There's no excuse for me to not AT LEAST save a few hundred dollars a month, instead of struggling and panicking to make sure my card is paid off and I don't have an interest fee.

I should do the same. One month I'm buying fandom stuff, the next it's clothes, then books etc. As soon as I decide to stop buying things, something else catches my eye.

Same here. My spending has only gotten worse in the wake of my dad's death, which I've read is common among people with grief and addictive behaviors. I've had five months of work and watching that money go down the tube instead of into my savings makes me feel guilty. Yes I've bought some nice things but getting paid monthly makes me not see the bigger picture.

I managed to quit smoking which I'm happy with, but I've quit a few times previously and have always slipped back into it whenever something really terrible/stressful's happened; I've grieved a lot of people and pets in the past couple years, so I've fallen off that wagon a lot. Hoping life is a little more chill next year and I make it stick. The downside being that my partner hasn't quit, so I'm super incredibly conscious of the smell now but can't really get away from it, haha.

Goddamn, I'm a goofball. Completely misfired, meant to reply to the parent thread. Sorry!
While I'm here, good on you and I wish you the best. It's so ridiculously easy to just spend money and impulse buy anything with a single click these days and I really commend anyone making an effort to curb that. You got this.
