SA In before someone comes in with anecdotes about 30 year old assholes existing too. Nobody said they don't.

But the common expectation being both spouses work and are coming into it with student loan debt and never expecting to own a home and children may be too expensive to have is a distinctly millennial+ thing. Did that exist in the 80s sure, but it wasn't the norm the way it is now. It's interesting to think about in retrospect.

Oh when people talk about their parents too. I automatically think of people around 60 with kids around 30, not people around 75. Gonna have to do some mental adjusting for here.

My sister's mother-in-law is a petulant child who manipulates people and cries when called out/held accountable (she's in her mid 70s). Is a real grouch and says out of line things that upsets others. She lived with us for random incremental weeks/months, and I didn't like her rooming with us XD

As an adult in middle age, I keep telling my sister, "It's like Benjamin Button."
Elder person but acting like a little child.

I was rewatching "The Sopranos" and when Uncle Jr began losing his mind from dementia, boy did I witness stuff that hit a bit too close to home. Uncle Jr's neurologist said a lack of consideration for others' feelings and a prickly disposition heightens in some dementia patients.

My sister says her MIL is just a bitch, but IDK...maybe there's something going on with her...or maybe some people just become really awful and immature as they get older?
