Actually, coming from someone who has been abused by men for her entire life, Fandom and the internet is one of the only places that restores my faith in men.

I have met so many beautiful individuals online who remind me that not all men are evil, and help me not to turn the word "men" into one single mass of malintent. Without my male fandom friends, I'd probably be more terrified of men than I already am. My male friends give me hope that one day I'll find a guy just as awesome as them, because hell, any girl [or guy, as the case may often be] is really, really lucky to have them.

In all seriousness, why is it acceptable to say this about all males, when the same principle can't be applied to a skin color or ethnicity? And don't fall back on "privilege." Please proffer an anthropological reason to back up your repeated assertions that all men are scum.

Also curious: Are "out" gay men also scum by definition of being male? Someone who has no sexual interest in women whatsoever? (I'm well aware rape is about power, not sex. But I'm a big believer that sexual contact with a gender has to be desired by a rapist for him to be able to commit the crime - whether he admits it or not.)

I will give you credit for using your LJ account to comment with such assertions, and for consistency of POV. I just don't understand the latter.
