Why the fuck wouldn't people be drawn to something like that? Everyone has fun seeing her strips, seeing how incredibly gorgeous her art is and when we gather on uStream we mostly just talk, and as someone pointed out, people are more interested in her backgrounds/expressions/quality of her art than anything to do with "teh gay" or whatever the fuck you want to call it.
Back to the yaoi thing -- it isn't exactly a ~*~*~*~yaoi~*~*~* story where two beautiful bishies cry and have buttsex. It's basically a story about two different people, how their lives become entangled and how yeah, they fall in love and happen to be two guys. How is that any different from other legit queer fiction? Oh, right because it's popular on the internet, so I guess it's pandering to 13 year olds, right?
Sorry to stick a pin in your ever-so-carefully crafted bubble of butthurt, but most of her fans are mature readers. And honestly, if I can be a fan of hers, it's pretty much a miracle. I don't have much interest in male/male anything (gay fiction for me is always more about lesbians :D) and I pretty much ignore most people's original characters for the fact that they lack originality. Most OCs in stories dealing with gay subject matter are wannabe punk characters with eyepatches added to make them unique or it's anthro shit about two half-fox demons and the artist spends most of her dA author notes explaining why two tufts of hair on his ears make him uke. But EK has made characters that feel human, act human and break molds. Like I said, if I like them, she's definitely doing something right.
I generally don't get defensive about things, because I dislike a lot of popular things, but seriously, all your points are pretty invalid. It's incredible. I'd be more willing to listen to "I just don't like it" than your lame-ass, straw-grasping "ARROGANCE!!1" and wondering why people like unfinished work bullshit.
/deep breath tl;dr I know, but really, anon? Pack up your little hate camp and go mine for wank somewhere else. Or better yet, email me. I can give you some things worth your hating energy and here's a tip: none of them involve the internet. Shock, horror, etc.
