I'm a pretty big fan of musicals and of Phantom specifically and I really like the movie. Having seen the stage musical and read the book, I have to say I don't think there's a lot wrong with the movie that wasn't wrong with the musical in the first place. But it doesn't really matter, I mean, I am not the kind of person to give a shit what someone else thinks of the entertainment I enjoy. Haters to the left.

I have to say, though, I kind of want Christine to dump Raoul and Erik. They both want to control her and don't see her as a complete person. Erik wants to marry her and keep her captive for the rest of her life; Raoul becomes obsessed with getting rid of Erik and starts telling her she has to do stuff that makes her deeply uncomfortable because he personally thinks it's the only way to take Erik down. None of that is cool.

(A PotO secret! And I was just rewatching that movie.)

I don't ship Raoul/Christine or Erik/Christine either. Not that I expected her to remain single, of course, so at least I didn't get dissapointed by who she ends up with.
