I'm a total wuss IRL and don't like seeing anyone get hurt, even "funny" home videos are too much for me. I love guro art, it's a fantasy for me; the subjects aren't real and like the aesthetic. I wish people didn't judge or make assumptions but that's life I guess

I liked Drainage City, so I guess I’m guro-adjacent? I never got into the more central stuff like Shintaro Kago, but I think I understand the pressure that this stuff releases. It’s kind of like popping a pimple inside your brain (a guro image if there ever was one.)

I think the pimple-popping is an apt metaphor. It's gross, but also satisfies a primal urge we don't understand.

Makes sense to me, like how a horror movie can be fine for people who hate the sight of blood irl. An unrealistic scenario in a story is totally different.
