I'm always excited to give any Stephen King adaptation a try. Mr. Mercedes had a great start and I liked most characters... but good grief is the titular villain annoying. I couldn't get through season 2 because of him.

Excellent! Someone else discovering this show because of Netflix.

I fell in love with Harry Treadaway because of this (ACTING!) but his character is a total fuckass. I still feel like we don't truly understand why he does the things he does. That's probably a good thing. I feel like all of the other characters hype up how evil he is when really he's a pathetic idiot. Which, on reflection, I actually really like. It's pretty true to life. A lot of serial killers are just complete losers and sometimes the reasons they aren't caught are failures by police or dumb luck.

I hope you keep with it OP, because Brady is absolutely a pain in the neck prick, but I am curious how you feel about s3.

I roll my eyes a little over all the fuss about Ai Mi co-starring with older actors because she's 17. (Like in Key to the Phoenix, where Hou Minghao is 28.)

1) It's not a real romance or relationship, you guys. This is 100% fictional. They're both experienced actors.

2) Cdramas are so ridiculously socially conservative that any romantic scenes will likely be so G-rated you can watch them with your pearl-clutching grandma.

3) There are very few established male leads her own age. If she doesn't act with older men, she won't get any decent scripts and her career will stall.

Asian POC, so I know what you mean. Not all of the early Asian characters that popped up in media were well written, and they didn't always transcend the stereotypes well. But they were there, and I appreciated the effort as well as the actors who played those roles. Sometimes the start of a journey is messy, but it's an ongoing process and I think that's a good thing.

I kinda wanna try to defend my monsterfucker cred as someone who finds animal features being unsexy.. I don't personally mind wings, but tails (other than like, demon arrowhead style tails bc those don't look like any real animal), fur, animal ears/snouts, all reduce the capacity of a character to be sexy to me. I'm into more robot/alien/abstract monsters, including ones that are pretty substantially inhuman looking! I just don't wanna be reminded of irl animals while I'm trying to jerk it. I'm not gonna be puritan about other people being into it but it's a pretty reasonable thing to be squicked by imo
