I know plenty of Christians who are lovely people, but saying "I'm praying you'll get a better job." made me fume because he's a stereotypical fundamentalist and ironically the bigger "sinner" I know. (Cheater, abuser, violent, racist, homophobic, does illegal drugs, etc.)

There's probably a divide between the older and younger boomers. I know boomers who protested the Vietnam War and participated in civil right activism tend to be progressive, but he was born in the latter end and is a stereotypical "hippie to yuppie." Went from smoking weed and partying in college, to getting his car and house when growing up, voting for Reagan, looking down on poor people, and marrying a woman too young for him. Ugh. (My parents are divorced, for the record, but he's had three.)

Yeah, a lot of older folks were all free love and weed and revolution when they were young... and then they grew up and voted Republican because they got their interests to protect and fuck everyone else. My dad's not quite that hypocritical, but he's willfully clueless about how things have changed since his day. Not so much a hateful MAGA bigot, but definitely in the "stop buying avocado toast and you could buy a house" and "people just don't want to work anymore" camp.

Yep, it's frustrating. I don't hate older folk, but the ones who got their bag before the last 3 recessions are willfully out of touch.
