Transcript - Stargate

Conspiracy theories about aliens building pyramids aside, I really liked Stargate as a series. It was fun.

The 200th episode remains one of my favorite pieces of television to this day. Peak comedy. This is a little bit secret, because of the racist conspiracy theory baked into the premise of the show.

But the secret secret is that I really enjoyed Jonas, Cam Mitchel, and Vala. Excellent additions to the cast. Very fun, all of them. Mitchell losing his pants, Vala's constant shenanigans, all of it made the show more entertaining.

bonus secret: i am mostly asexual but i would still bang Vala like a screen in a hurricane

I liked Jonas and Vala (though I hated the romance with Daniel). I was meh on Cam, I didn't hate him. But he shouldn't have been team lead, that should have been Sam. And it made me annoyed every time he was on screen giving orders.

Oh, yeah I could totally see what you mean about Sam leading the team instead. What a wasted opportunity.

Not a fan of Vala, she was a well-written character but that character type just isn't my thing.
I think Cam was supposed to be kinda 'meh'. He's Generic Guy that your average audience member could easily latch on to for the ride. IIRC they kinda commented on this in one of the Wormhole X-Treme episodes.

It has been years since I watched, but did Sam ever say anything in canon about wanting to lead the team? For some reason I have a headcanon that she just didn't want it, that it would tie her down when she had other projects she wanted to focus on but I'm wondering if that was something my brain just came up with or if the show addressed it at all.

I liked Jonas and was bummed when he was dropped to bring Daniel back.

Can't really agree with Vala and Cameron though. I didn't hate them, but they were part of the many things I didn't care for in the last few seasons.

I think I made a secret about Jonas years ago

and about how much I liked him. Fandom hated him at the time and I just didn't get it.

I liked Mitchell and Vala too! By that point I was so sick of Daniel.

Is it really a racist conspiracy theory baked in when they say EVERY culture, even the white ones, have ties to aliens? It's not just the brown ones. Even Christianity was caught up in this.

I love Vala, she's one of my favorite characters (together with Sam and Janet, yes there is a pattern here). Vala is the main reason why I like the 9th and 10th seasons best, though on rewatches, they did age just about as much as the other seasons which, well... It is a very firmly 90's and early 2000's show.

Funny enough, I apparently retconned the conspiracy theory enough in my head to think that the Egyptians had built the pyramids and the Goa'uld just used them as convenient shapes for their ships, lmao. I was so convinced that was true that I actually wrote it that way when I started my fusion AU. Now, after having rewatched some episodes and realizing that was not actually the case, I'm still sticking to it. I like it better that way, lol.
