I just found out that Seth MacFarlane has the rights to a Dungeon Crawler Carl movie and it has ruined any hopes I had for an adaptation.

He is a horrible man with horrible hateful humor.

I hadn't heard about this and now I'm excited for it.

1. It’s going to be a show.
2. It’s being produced by Seth McFarlane’s production company.
3. Matt Dinnman is writing and executive producing the show.
4. Have you read DCC? Seth McFarlane’s sense of humor is the perfect fit with Matt Dinniman’s. But this will not be a comedy tv show, rather it will have comedic moments just like the books.

I strongly disagree on point 4. Their humor does not match up at all for me. Not OP, but I read the DCC books and really enjoyed them and part of that was because there was surprisingly no sexism and misogyny hiding as humor in them. The same cannot be said for any of McFarlane's work. McFarlane has a very mean and juvenile sense of humor.

But I am optimistic to hear that Dinniman is writing the show and that McFarlane is just producing! Hopefully he is hands off and just lets the MD do his thing.

You might want to read some of his other work.

I tried, didn't like it.

I mean, Orville had same sex, male coded partners who laid eggs, a species where the females are much stronger than males, and an entire plotline about forcing a female baby to have Sex reassignment surgery to be "normal" among her kind. Not all of McFarlan's work is sexist, and he doesn't write Family Guy, he just shows up to do the voices.

Orville also had an alien who shot semen from his forehead splashing his cheating wife in the face, if I recall correctly.

Oh no...........

(Anonymous) 2025-12-22 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Anyway...

(Anonymous) 2025-12-21 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, fits with the books perfectly, then.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-22 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Not really

(Anonymous) 2025-12-22 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
There sure were a lot of babies in there.

I agree, OP. He's just the worst. I can't believe Fandom Secrets has so easily forgotten his absolutely gross and shitty appearance as host of the Oscars.
