I played and enjoyed lots of games like this, but I have absolutely zero nostalgia for the chunky pixel art. Using it in a modern game is a huge mark against it in my book.

I agree with you. I will play games with this art style, but it has to be a really good game for me to overlook it. I don't like it at all.

I think chunky pixel art is okay even if I don't love it. But what I'm really sick of is those pseudo early PS1 3D graphics, especially in indie horror games. They almost always look terrible and I can barely recognise anything. Add to that this shitty VCR effect and I'm out. Only very, very few games can pull it off without it being a migraine inducing muddy mess.

Yeah, unless I'm actually playing a game I loved back in the day, I don't want the pixel art, I hate it. Like I'm glad people are enjoying and emotionally connecting to Stardew Valley, Undertale/Deltarune and what have you but I find them Bad to look at and it just makes me annoyed whenever I have to hear about how great they are.

i'm almost the opposite. i tend to have no interest in 'new' looking games ('clean' 3d graphics); i feel it detracts from the vision of whatever the creator has in mind, and never looks convincingly real. but i think it's fine to be tired of pixels too (especially when people focus more on the ~omg nostalgic!!1! visual look than making a good game). lol

....In what world is this era of VGA art that was made from scanned marker drawings or watercolor paintings chunky? And KQ6 is a heck of an example if you're trying to say that the style is ugly or off-putting.

(obMention that it would have looked different and less aggressively sharp on a period CRT than it does on a modern LCD)

It is most likely just me, but I definitely headcanon Natasha from A Royal Christmas as a lesbian, or at least a strongly sapphic bisexual.

It would also give Prince Leo’s frustration with his mother relentlessly setting him up with her a bit more weight, like “Wow, you hate my American girlfriend so much you want to set me up with my gay best friend?!”

S/B: It’s a Hallmark Christmas movie, they’ve only just started putting gay couples in their movies, let alone lesbians.

Bonus secret: I also lowkey wanted Emily’s best friend from home (her name was Toni, if I recall correctly) to end up with her.

One of my pet peeves is when people pretend to be a larger fan of something than they actually are. It's ok to enjoy something but not live and breathe it. But it's obnoxious to pretend like it's a huge part of your life when it actually isn't. I've noticed that this type of person also exaggerates other things in their life, so it's not JUST me being annoyed by their pretend superfan status, but by their exaggerated lying bullshit in general.

I don't like Adam Sandler because
1. I find him gross
2. I don't him funny
3. I'm a teacher and he reminds me of those really annoying kids in class who think they're hilarious but distract other kids from learning and are consistently rude to the teacher. I know nothing of his life, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the kind of student he was.

I find it kind of interesting how people react to secrets saying they judge others for something, even if it's something super petty. It's invariably mostly assumptions that the OP of such secrets must be out there running wild in every fandom openly insulting and verbally assaulting others with their judgments.

IME the people who actually do run wild openly insulting and verbally assaulting others over an opinion never keep it a secret. Nor do they bother to hide behind anonymity. They're loud and proud of themselves and don't understand why someone would keep their opinion private.

The best secrets to me are the ones where I'm like "yeah, I get why this is a secret, OP."

I tell people I relate to Phoebe the most because I'm often the outlier in group settings and I tend to march to the beat of my own drum, but I relate to Monica the most.

Perfectionism and people pleasing as a result of being the Scapegoat Child to the Golden Child. I can play the Mother role in my friend groups and my judgmental words can hit a bit too hard so my friends have hidden silly things from me.

So far, Pluribus is great, well written, well acted. Rhea Seehorn is great.

But I'm struggling because anything dystopian/post-apocalyptic in nature is
some kind of trigger for me. I feel so uncomfortable watching, even while I'm trying to emotionally detach and acknowledge it's a masterful piece
of media. I know I should just quit watching but here I am, watching and suffering for... Reasons? IDK.
