idk why people are low key trolling you in the comments here. I'm glad you have something that brings you that kind of joy and I hope you continue to enjoy it and screw the haters.

I'm not one of the people upthread, but probably because it's an extremely mainstream opinion? They'd probably react the same way to someone making a secret out of "I like Disney movies. I don't care about anything else. They make me happy"

eh you've got a point but it's also an opinion that is widely made fun of or mocked. Taylor Swift can be one of those polarizing topics that depends on who your circle is. Sometimes hating her is the secret, sometimes loving her is the secret.

So is Disney, which is why I used that example. If someone had posted "I like Disney movies they make me happy. I don't care if I'm basic" people would also reply like "sure, cool. Hugely common opinion. Anyway"

SA Oh, forgot to add, I'm not a hater or anything. No personal feelings on Swift and never listened to her really. But if a thread starts out with "I uncritically like something because it makes me happy personally idc" even the haters are just gonna be like "aight no point" which I think is what they're doing, lol.

I’m not sure it really is a mainstream opinion, tbh. Her fans are seemingly more fans of her than her music.

And anyway, there is a lot of anti-TS sentiment in this comm and a lot of rabid stans, so I can understand someone who just enjoys her music feeling like it’s a secret.

There's also at least one hardcore swiftie here who sometimes demonstrates why so many people reflexively dislike the TS fandom and by extension TS herself

(Anonymous) 2025-12-23 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Not really? There is at least one really unhinged hater here though.

Looking at her music sales, I don't think you can claim "I like Taylor Swift's music" is an unpopular opinion. No personal opinion on that will change those massive numbers. It's silly to discuss even.

I'm also not saying OP can't feel it's a secret, I'm trying to explain why others are reacting in the way they are.

(Anonymous) 2025-12-23 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
It seems like people are more likely to leave negative comments here. If OP had said they hate Taylor people would probably be like OK WELL THEN DON'T LISTEN TO HER?? But since they DO like her, it's OK WELL GOOD FOR YOU??

I think it's more that the tone set by the OP is pre-emptively defensive so people are more likely to be like ok sure good for you. It'd be the same with a secret that went I hate Taylor and don't care if that makes me a hater I'm gonna keep on hating! They'd be like ok... sure, good for you. What more can they say?

Pre-emptive defense is absolutely a valid tactic to fend off criticism and haters, not saying that's bad. But at the same time it's not a discussion starter, you know?

(Anonymous) 2025-12-23 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ehh, it's nice that OP found music they enjoy. It's the "But I'm not going to stop listening" part that's... okay then? Was anyone saying you should stop, or trying to make you stop listening to Taylor Swift?
