What are the right reasons?

Right reasons: bad prose, plotholes, flat characters, deus ex machinae, etc. when these things are actually present in the book.

Wrong reasons: Any of the above claimed to exist when it doesn't. "This was a plothole!" when the reviewer just didn't catch the explanation. "Moral" grievances like "contains bad thing" regardless of context. There was a tweet that sums this kind of thing up with like "People will say a book is bad because it promotes puppy-killing, and then I'll read the book and the puppy-killer is the villain."
