Comment OP. I guess I'm not up to date, 'cause last time I checked the biggest kink in this area (M/M fic, maybe fandom dependent?) was making a character trans, not talking about the being trans part at all, and just overly and explicitly describe the genitalia for sex (and the man with the vagina is always bottom). Are some people actually moving on from disguising their fetish as "activism" now?

Just a matter of terminology.

Cuntboy/dickgirl/futa are people who are born that way, not trans anything. They are people who were born the gender they are and the world recognizes them as the gender they are, but their genitalia doesn't match up to RL cis configs. These are fantasy kinks e.g. girls with boobs and also dicks aren't trans women or femboys, they're just dickgirls. They were always that way.

Trans would mean the character was assigned something else than what they are at birth.

If you dislike "male characters with female genitalia" your kink isn't their kink and that's okay, but the "trans man" and "not trans, but has vagina aka cuntboy" kinks are different. :)

What I hate about just plain porn of tagged trans!character is when the transness isn't remarked upon at all in-universe. I think I would prefer if people in my fandom would stop tagging trans!character in favor of cuntboy or "Character has a vagina" if they're going to just have the character be cis and then have surprise!vagina. It squicks me out and I don't wanna see it.

I'd agree with you that if "character is cis, but has a vagina" happens, it should properly be tagged cuntboy because that's literally what it is, lol. It's a cis man with a vagina. I'm also happily supportive of your option to block that tag.

Just explaining why it isn't the same thing as trans fic since you seemed confused about how "cis man with vagina" could happen and not be trans.

It's something I've never seen before, and has actually helped me figure out why I HATE some of the trans porn I run across. Nice to know it's a recognized category and that the authors that should be using it just (probably) don't know it exists.

Cuntboy/dickgirl/futa has been around a LONG time before trans-character has been. Grumble grumble cane shaking at these newbies. These aren't even my kinks but I know they were here before me!

Why would it need to be remarked on in-universe? Is that your kink? If it's set in the real world with no fantasy cuntboy/dickgirl biology known to be present and a male character has a vagina, it goes without saying that he's trans, not cis with a surprise vagina. So why shouldn't it be tagged for that? If it's not remarked upon, it goes without saying again that the other character involved in the porn already knew he was trans.

Y'all complain when trans fic isn't tagged because of ~eww surprise vagina~ (and I agree with this complaint as far as I think trans fic should not be untagged) and then when it is you find a way to complain about the fact that it is for the exact same reason you complain when it isn't tagged. Amazing.

It absolutely does not go without saying that the other character involved in the porn already knew he was trans.

Why take a cis person in canon and make them trans if you don't want to actually have a trans experience that (and here's the crucial part) isn't just porn about trans bodies?? Almost like it's a.... fetish. DLDR, but you can't DLDR unless it's tagged properly and if you tag trans and don't actually do trans, then it's... not.

If its established relationship I can see the trans aspect not being remarked upon because why would it be? The other character would know.

If it's a new hook up I usually see the trans part aspect being mentioned, it's not usually a huge thing, just some dialogue between the characters, but that can be enough depending on how it's written, it doesn't need to be a whole after-school special type discussion especially if it's smut fic. People tend to want to get to the fucking.

But even with that said I'm not sure how much it would take me out of the fic if it was a new hook up without it being talked about, a lot of this depends on the writer and how good they are at side-stepping something they perhaps don't want to go over in a fictional context like it does irl.

I honestly prefer when people tag that type of story as cuntboy/whatever fantasy tag. I respect that there's a gray area between them, and there will always be some overlap between people who enjoy both things (including a lot of trans people), but I sometimes get the feeling that writers feel like tagging their fic "trans" is less offensive than just doing a cuntboy story, when it's actually more odd (to me) to treat trans people as equivalent to a fantasy cuntboy/dickgirl. That said people write what they enjoy and most smutty fic is unrealistic no matter what it's about, so I don't expect writers to cater to my tastes, I just sometimes wish it was easier to filter for different types of story because I have a totally different mood when I'm interested in reading one or the other.

I mentioned it below but cuntboy enjoyers seem to get squicked in the same way when it turns out the male trans character is actually trans and still has boobs. Sorting this out seems like it'd benefit everybody lol
