Ngl I don't really get either of those tags. But I'm one of those people who views every single fanfic as "canon divergent" because unless they're shot by shot retelling stories already told, characters doing anything else at all by definition diverges from canon.

Adding more scenes and stories to a ship is still diverging from canon even if the ship is canon. The actual canon is that it happened offscreen. Idk

Ugh. This reminds me of the dozens of RPF fics with sci-fi or fantasy settings, unironically tagged "canon compliant".

Not, like, crossovers. Just... completely unique settings.

This is me when a fic is tagged both "hurt no comfort" and "hurt/comfort." They try to wiggle it around by saying "well, some characters get hurt with no comfort." Like, sure, the villain of the fic gets hurt with no comfort but THAT'S EXPECTED. Tags are supposed to tell me what I can expect in the story. If you're only going to say that someone (tee hee) gets hurt with no comfort and it miiiiight be the main character(s) but it might nooooooot be then I'm not reading your fic.

I’ve never tagged or even seen a fic like this but can so easily understand how both are true. I guess I’m the outlier here though since all the comments above agree with you.

The fact you leave comments complaining about it on the fics that have them is the real secret though. You truly are an entitled piece of shit and your fandoms suffer from having you in them.

This doesn’t seem overly out there to me? A fic could follow canon to a point and then diverge, I mean I’m not sure I’d tag canon compliant if I did that but I can see the logic in doing so.

I get being annoyed by something silly like this but I wouldn’t go so far as to comment on peoples fic about it, that’s just rude.

He isn't homeless though. He lives in a house/small castle. He also doesn't always want to eat the smurfs, he wants them for creating a philosopher's stone and/or magic potions. And some people are just assholes and have nobody but their own shitty personalities to blame for not having friends (though iirc, he has several family members).

Secrets you don't want to make...

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

Sometimes I wonder if James Cameron has made a pact with Cthulhu in return for being a successful director. Like, half his movies he has almost drowned members of his cast. Is that the payment, Cameron, do you sacrifice actors and extras in watery graves in Cthulhu's name?
