90% of the time I start with fandoms. I love original characters in known settings, there are tons of minor characters who might be fun, ect.

But when I'm in a mega fandom (Super heroes especially) I've got to search by character or pairing because there are 20 variations on each fandom. (X-Men, X-Men Comics, X-Men Fox Film, MCU, Marvel Comics, ect.) and that is miserable to sort out. But I know I'm missing stuff because plenty of folks under tag.

5% of the time I start with "original fiction" and "m/f" and "explicit" and refine my search from there.
