I think 12/14 and 14/16 are both squicky age pairings.

Man, I am so old and removed from any children in my life that I had to actually think through that one because a two year age gap seems barely noticeable now. But I do dimly remember it seeming huge as a child/adolescent.

My parents had a nine year age gap so. Two years isn't squicky IMO.

Two years is a non-issue between adults, but when you're still a tween/teen someone who is just a few years older can have a big maturity difference. It's why a highschool freshman dating someone in middle school would be seen as COCSA and otherwise inappropriate.

But that's in real life. I just can't bring myself to care when it comes to fictional characters. I shipped Ash and Misty from Pokemon as a kid under the impression Misty was 12/13.
