There are a bunch of James Cameron directed movies I really, really enjoy - Aliens, The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Titanic, The Abyss, and True Lies, pretty much everything but the Avatar movies (and, okay, Piranha II). I rolled my eyes at Avatar when it first came out, and any subsequent re-releases and sequels have garnered the same reaction from me. I haven't seen any of them and I don't want to. While it's nice that other people have something that they enjoy, I, myself, wish he would move on to other things, but there are, like, two more planned.

there are rumors that if this one doesn't do well (by whatever metric he considers "well") he's said he's going to bail on doing anymmore. if hollywood rumors are worth anything these days. he should. just fucking bail, man, no one's going to hold you hostage behind the computer for two more.
