Not a fan but I have always kind of wanted to become one since I saw the 2009 movie. Any recommendations?

Since you saw the 2009 movie, I’d suggest just starting with the original and then watch TNG next. If TOS is too cheesy, just skip it.

I will say that the responses here are very different than in other spaces so this thread might not be a great guide for you.
