I don't agree with everything Melanie Hamlett says but I like her theory that all women are on a Pick Me spectrum.

I used to be pretty high on the Pick Me spectrum, but blinded myself to it with excuses. However, the more I began to truly unpack my own internalized misogyny, the more I realized I too am a Pick Me.

I'm definitely way less male centered these days, and trying so hard now to help uplift other women and girls. I'm trying my best not to revert to putting others down because I see opportunity to "get ahead" by competing with them (even if it's only in my head).

It was the unpacking my internalized misogyny that made me see the hypocritical things my so-called friend was doing. I can confirm that these people will not unpack their own internalized misogyny until they are ready to. I was only hurting myself keeping such company around.
