As a Sci-fi fan, i like psychic powers in my sci-fi but only if they're relatively toned
down (eg telepathy/empathy and maybe a bit of mind control) and they are given an explanation (eg cybernetic implants/mutation/genetic engineering/nonhuman ancestry)
I'm actively turned off when the psychic powers are flashy Jean Grey-esque shit

I feel like the line between scifi and fantasy can be pretty blurry sometimes and 'powers' is a perfect example of that. Your logic seems pretty reasonable to me.

Either kind is fine to me, but there has to be reasonable opposition if the heroes have psychic powers.
