Maybe I've been out of the dating scene for too long, but I'm struggling to think of when someone who I find fun and am interested in dating long-term wouldn't also be the person whom I could best take home to my parents. Either he's hinting at having "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" level racist parents, or by "fun" he means fun in the bedroom / sexy and literally no other considerations. Either way, yikes at him saying that.

I definitely dated plenty of people when I was younger who I would classify as "fun but wouldn't bring them home to meet the parents." Not all relationships are intended to be long-term, sometimes you can just enjoy going out with someone for a while without wanting it to be a serious thing.
