(Anonymous) 2026-01-17 07:56 am (UTC)(link)I'd read an article about an elderly lady in Japan who passed away. Her live-in son left her body in her bed for 5 months. Her death and body was not discovered until her daughter went to the apartment to visit. The son was in his 50s and had always struggled to work. The daughter had to call the police and take care of everything. The son didn't kill their mom but he didn't tell anyone about her passing because he was collecting her pension checks. And I believe it's one of those things where putting on one's Adult suits wasn't something the son took initiative on, he knew his sister would come over one day and take care of things for him.
My older sister and I discussed the situation, thinking the same thing. It could be our family one day.
It's just one of those things where you read up on it, because what if?
Wouldn't it be a little helpful to gain some insight?
Is it a little comforting to know my family's situation isn't as isolating as I think? I don't know. Maybe?
