Secrets you don't want to make...

(Anonymous) 2026-01-16 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

Cheers,

a secret maker

P.S. Please don't worry if you've submitted a secret and it hasn't been posted yet. I usually post these threads before running out of the previous batch of secrets to get a head start on the next batch.

I haven’t heard much Barry Manilow, but “Can’t Smile Without You” was in a movie. It sounds like it’s meant for people who’d bolt like frightened deer if a song ever did something surprising.

Ahaha, I heard this song on the radio this morning. Yeah, it's definitely a very..simple song, to say the least.

Lol. I saw the Barry Manilow white Whitney Houston secret today and may I say I am appreciative of both

Interestingly, not one Manilow wrote (it was written by Christian Arnold, David Martin and Geoff Morrow), though it feels very much like him and his version is very popular (his version came after one by Martin and one by The Carpenters). But his writing style is kind of interesting as he started out writing jingles "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there".

I wish Disney hadn't already made a live action version of Beauty and the Beast so they could make one now with Hannah Dodd. Looking at pictures of her in Bridgerton, she looks more like Belle than Belle does. And they could give her an actual gold dress, because it wasn't supposed to be lemon yellow.

I don't even really like the remake thing. And I have nothing against Emma Watson, but she doesn't look like Belle to me.

I hated that live action dress so much. I couldn't even wait for this secret to go live to go off about how that dress was a travesty and it should not have been made and everything about it makes me mad all over again when I remember it. (yes I know there are better things to be upset about, believe me, I'm upset about them too, this one is nice and free from real world stakes)

I found most of the live action cast disappointing, but if the costuming department had done their jobs and put Belle in a dress that looked like Disney magic and not a child's drawing, I could have forgiven a lot. I'm also still a little salty about the 'Belle doesn't wear a corset because feminism' thing. She's too empowered for underwear, you guys. I just, I cannot respect the intelligence of anyone who doesn't think women can do things in a properly fitted and worn corset. It contributes to the costumes looking like crap and also it just strikes me as UNCOMFORTABLE to be running around (riding a horse!) with your tiddies flopping around unsupported.

I can't take any sports romance seriously because I just assume the characters must be sweaty and smelly after playing. Of course they can bathe later, but they can't be attractive in the sport uniform or while playing.

This goes for stuff like Heated Rivalry, and sports-related romance novels, and even things like Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. It gives me the ick.

tbf, some people find that a turn-on.

I mean... they can be attractive from a distance, surely? They can still look good as long as you don't have to smell them before a shower?

But it is definitely some of the appeal for many, yeah.

(and like, I'm with you on just not getting the appeal of sports romance! I don't see the appeal of SPORTS, for the most part. I am FASCINATED by the fact that you see actual real life sports figures having actual real life relationships the same way as you view the sports romance, like Travis Kelce probably just showers before he and Taylor get all cozy but his sweat is haunting the narrative. I mean I would never date a football man so I can't argue with you about this. Thank you for giving us a window onto this line of thought, I will continue to think about it)

This is so weird to me lol I think being sweaty is part of the eroticism

A lot of sexual encounters are messy and smelly and par for the course, and that's why it's part of the appeal IMO

Agreed... don't we have pheromones or something? Or do some folks insist only on being around their partner if they never ever ever sweat or even give off an odor inconsistent with their cologne/perfume? I feel like that's an arrangement destined to fail.

I liked the "bad" Godzilla movies. I want some more cheap and goofy Godzilla movies, just occasionally, please.

Fandom is Stranger Things

I'm overjoyed Steve didn't get an epilogue wife and went on his roadtrip with Dustin instead. And I like the fact that he's still a bit of a fuckboy.
