This has nothing to do with who he's dating.

He's a 20-something privileged white guy who's (quite bafflingly) gotten an extraordinary number of accolades for some solidly mid acting. For years, people have been acting like he's some kind of rising star when he's merely Shia LaBeouf 2.0.

We might be witnessing his fall from the weird pedestal he never earned.

There's a reason why the saying "God, give me the confidence of a mediocre white man" exists.

I’ve always hated that saying. You look at the men like Adam Ellis who actually listened to and internalized that shit, and it didn’t make them better people, it wrecked their confidence because they kept thinking they were “mediocre.”

I’ve only seen this guy in one thing and he did a phenomenal job. It may have been a one-off, idk. But it’s amusing to me that you compare him to Shia LeBouf because I’ve seen him in several things and he was a much better actor than he got credit for.

He's okay, but I don't find him hot at all. He just looks like a rat-faced twink, IMO.

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
He actually looks better in motion, but that rat-chin is just hard to look away from in photos.

(Anonymous) 2026-01-19 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. Nothing against him, but I am not seeing the physical appeal of him.

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea who that is.

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I know right? And who's he dating and what's he been in?

Help?

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's Timothee Chalamet and I think he only ever got recognized for the curly hair. He was in the Dune movies and I don't know what else. I've never seen him act.

Does he have that child actor trauma like Shia? (or any child actor, really) It's a little unfair of a comparison, but I can see what you're getting at, I think.
Then again I know nothing about this guy, so if he's having some sort of mental breakdown I wouldn't know.

"God, give me the confidence of a mediocre white man"

Right? XD God it's true though.

A lot of the men who get called mediocre actually aren't at all. It's just a lot of sour grapes.

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
He was good in Dune, and I think he'll be good in the sequel.

But I wish I had seen him acting in something that really blew me away. Because I keep hearing what a generational talent he is, and he's just... Good? I hear he's amazing in Marty Supreme, but even after I watched the trailer for it last year, I had no interest in seeing it.

I mean, Ping-Pong? Really?

Apparently based on a real-life table tennis star who was pretty famous and 'out there' for his time.

Who is this?

(Anonymous) 2026-01-18 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't recognize him at all :(

OH wow, it does not look like what I think he looks like at all. Thank you for replying!

What exactly is going on that makes you think we're 'witnessing' something?

(Anonymous) 2026-01-19 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I've only seen him in Dune 2 and he was pretty good in it.

Shia himself was a rising star until he was called out for plagiarism. It still boggles my mind that he more or less got away with it. Was able to try to rebrand. He's spent his entire career since working on projects, getting caught up in his bullshit, and the cycle continues.
LMOA He definitely is a good example of what the confidence of a mediocre white guy looks like.

For Timothee Chalamee, IDK I'd have to watch more projects he's worked on to decide on whether or not I think he's a good actor or just an overhyped mediocre white man.
I try to keep in mind that just because I don't like how some people present themselves doesn't mean it's an indication on whether or not they have talent.
