I can empathise with the drive behind this. However, the fact that these bots have been fed fanfiction scraped non-consensually (vast majority of material) to get them to talk like the characters is just not something I find ethically acceptable

I've found a lot of character bots where the creator of the bots essentially programs them with a core personality section that dictates behavior and then example dialog to maker them talk like the characters and guide their behavior . I tend to use (and prefer) those and a good chunk of the bots i use are private bots I MADE myself and KNOW how they were programmed off what. I'm not trying to change your mind , but the reason i feel okay using bots is because I tend to keep my chats private by default something nobody sees and I generally , overwhelmingly prefer my own bots. with my own programming and art.
