What's the weather like where you are?

We have a winter storm warning for this weekend, looks to be relatively bad at least for Texas. Had to cancel my weekend plans.

No storm here (stay safe!) but we're diving into the deep, deep cold with -40ish degrees celsius tonight and the rest of the week. (I'm in Canada)

Ew. that's cold. I thought the 10 degree weather we were getting this weekend was bad. then again, this is Texas, we don't do cold so well. I prefer cold to hot, but I don't like it that cold.

Honestly I'll take this cold over the heat but it is tiring, and we've had a warmer winter than normal so far so no one is used to the cold the way we would be by now.

I think lowest we had was around -35C (yeah, different continent) and our infrastructure can get wacky at that. We are having -18C this weekend and for some reason I am getting nervous, it annoys me. I am okay with cold.

today I shoveled for the 4th time since last Thursday. and then had to run out and get salt because we ran out back on that day.

anytime, hope your local Farm & Fleet/Fleet Farm/Home Depot/Lowes/grocery store of random choice has what you need! I couldn't get the pet-safe salt, they're sold out, but I got an eco-based variety that at least won't kill my pollinator garden.

Sunny but cold-- at least, cold outside. Unbearably hot in the waiting room with the big glass windows, still bundled up in a jacket and down vest and suddenly finding myself in a hothouse.

Sorry it is so hot. I hate it when they crank the heat up so high that it gets miserable inside even when cool to cold outside. My office is bad for that in the afternoon because the sun hits my windows at just the right angle later in the day. Even with the shades shut.

Bitterly cold. We're supposed to get snow Fri/Sat, which would be great. I'm extremely tired of cold with no snow.

I hope you do get the snow. I feel the same way about cold without snow, except that no one here in Dallas knows how to drive in snow and ice. Everything shuts down for less than an inch of snow and the streets become death traps.

It’s rainy but we’re also getting that storm this weekend. It will be rough on a lot of us for many reasons. For most families, they suddenly need to provide two more meals per kid a day until schools reopen. Too many won’t be able to do that. Lots of us will get snowed or iced into our homes for a week or more and not everyone was lucky enough to get what they need to last them. We’re expecting power outages lasting 18-24 hours at a time and the houses aren’t insulated for cold weather. The news has been teaching people how to safely stay warm in their cars, reminding people to clear the tailpipe of snow or open the garage door. It’s going to be hard on so many :(

I'm sorry. Bad weather is always hardest on the most vulnerable. I always worry about homeless people when it is super cold or super hot.

We're experiencing a "warm" spell (high of 39 F today!) before the big snowstorm this weekend, where 6-12" are predicted but we probably won't get that much. At least, I hope we won't because that's crazy.

hang in there 'straya. Think of the other half of the world at -15 to -30 between air temp and wind chill (legit, our "high" Friday is -21C and wind chills -40-45 during daylight, don't even ask about overnight).

Same storm is supposed to hit us with 8-15 inches of snow. Who knows what we'll actually get but it might be a lot.

They're not bad people, exactly? They're just sort of... run of the mill self-centered with a case of Main Character Syndrome that makes every interaction with them so emotionally draining and frustrating that if they vanished off the face of the earth, I'd feel a guilty sense of relief that I don't have to pretend to be interested in their boring stories or be on the receiving end of the endless stream of terrible old people advice all the time. It doesn't seem quite enough to cut them off forever but if we weren't related by blood and/or marriage, we would definitely not be friends.

calling others boring is the thing that someone with the Main Character Syndrome does. Thinking about cutting off family because they are oldand boring and give boring advice is... something. Are you that anon that is always oh so nice to others, allegedly, but they just don't value you enough, allegedly?
