You don't have to be friends to be civil?.. Or idk, care if they died?? I'm sure I'm missing some context here, and I'm not trying to be rude, but what you're describing is pretty normal human interaction.
Like giving advice and sharing an interest is absolute base level, "I care", conversation. The fact you seem to be wanting to cut them off forever for, I mean, like, what exactly? It all seems a little extreme.

A desperate wish to be a victim? Idk, it seems that cutting off contact is somehow a fashionable thing to do. People say it with pride. No contact with parents, siblings, some friends, exes, etc.
