...does this really count as fandom?

(Anonymous) 2026-01-25 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Are fictional books not fandom to you?

(Anonymous) 2026-01-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Specific books, yeah.

The act of reading, no.

This secret is about the latter.

"I read fiction. I also read non-fiction." And the fandom is....?

DA yeah I don’t really see a secret, just trauma dumping.

I disagree. People make secrets about watching TV or movies without naming a specific show or movie. It's consumption of media, which is part of every fandom.

Those secrets don't need to name the specific show or movie to still be about a specific show or movie.

This secret is not about a book or a series or any fictional literary universe... or, indeed, anything the secret maker is interested in at all. It is, again, about the act of reading.

Is the act of watching movies fandom? How about video games?

If it were only non-fiction I might agree with you, but this is about OP liking fiction. Not simply liking to read news articles or something.

But sometimes the secrets aren't about a specific show or movie. They're about the state of television or movies in general. IMO, it doesn't need to be about a specific work, and that includes books.

DA Exactly, it gets kinda ridiculous if you say the same thing with TV instead of books. Some ex who only watches the news and documentaries thinks it's silly to watch any and all fictional TV shows. It's very much about being a fan of things
