I bet if something did happen and someone tried to call you but weren't on the allowed list the same people would ask why that relative wasn't on your allowed list. Sorry they were like that about it. You sound like you have your head screwed on right.

^This. Sometimes asshats just want to criticize everything. You can't win, because anything you decided would be wrong, somehow, in some way. I like to put a little distance between myself and those idiots, it's a lot more restful for one's peace of mind.
