I commented on a recipe video for crunchy fried Enoki that I really hate the texture of most mushrooms but the recipe looks like something I could like because of the crunch. Cue a not inconsiderable number of people getting deeply offended and triggered by me not liking mushroom texture and berating me how I just never prepared them correctly (I have) and how I'm just SO wrong (as if texture preferences were a rare/objective thing), up to insults about "having a child's palate". Because I don't like mushroom texture.

I hate mushrooms everything (texture, smell and taste) and enough people get offended that I am considering inventing allergy.

I honestly wouldn't blame you. I know sometimes people get mad about false claims of allergies, but like, if you would just fucking respect me and not grill me and berate me and get offended, it wouldn't be necessary.

Ok, THIS is legitimately one of my biggest pet peeves. Some people take it SO FUCKING PERSONALLY when someone doesn't agree with their food preferences and opinions, and I will NEVER understand it. Literally why the fuck do you care? I mean, sure, if someone says "EW this food is DISGUSTING and anyone who likes it is an ANIMAL" then that's insulting. But a simple "I don't care for this food" or "The texture of this is offputting to me" is so completely harmless that it boggles my mind that anyone can be offended by this. And yet, THEY ARE! Oh, they are. And this isn't even something that you can really debate. If you don't like the flavor or texture of something, you don't like it.

I mean, you could get into a discussion of, "Well, if my partner has a very limited amount of things they eat and I'm a big foodie and adventurous and like to try different places," that's one thing. But I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about someone saying they don't like a single food item, and flipping out over it. Or even an internet stranger on a YouTube comment saying they don't like a particular food item, and somehow getting offended over THAT.
