Interestingly, when younger women get this type of work done, it often ages them. I recently watched a podcast with two sisters, one who is 7 years older. And although she is older, she hasn't had anything done to her face. And her natural facial features actually make her look a bit younger than her sister, who has had a lot done. Her skin isn't as young, but the surgery and the fillers have just made her sister look quite a bit older than she actually is. It's interesting to see two people who look really similar naturally, but one has done surgery and the other has not.

I think the rise of plastic surgery procedures for younger women (I say rise because they always existed, but not to the extent there is now) combined with the return of nicotine consumption (via vaping) is what's driving people's sense of "why do they look older?"

That, and current makeup trends that seem to be trying to recapture that late 90s/early aughts tanning bed beauty queen look, but without the actual tan and an overall darker palette. So it ends up being the kind of heavy, slightly overdone makeup that people over the age of 35 associate with older women.
