The fictive kids who insist that they're a 'system' and all their 'headmates' just happen to be their favorite characters from their favorite shows, so they can randomly rp when other people are just trying to have normal conversations. The worst are the ones who claim fictives of actual real life streamers and throw a fit when the streamer is understandably uncomfortable and would like them to stop larping in official discords.

I was in a discord with like 20 systems (they were the majority of active users, and most were around 18-21 yo) and so many had fictives of this series the discord was about, which had only been running for a week or two. I muted it bc it was just impossible to have conversations with people bc they kept switching and there were of course duplicates of the characters in the series and I gotta say I lost track of everyone in that place. Like, I fail to believe you're actually switching headmates when two of your headmates are having a conversation back and forth in one of the channels, you know? That's just rping with yourself, my dude. It's this specific behavior from plurals/systems that I am not a fan of btw, not systems in general. I've long thought these kids would have thrived during more RP-heavy/friendly fandom times rather than doing what they're doing now.

That's 99,9% of self-diagnosed DID/system people online. They're just RPing (badly), not actually sick.

I believe systems are a real thing but the vast majority of people claiming to be one are just rping badly imo. I know one person in a discord who’s apparently a system and I didn’t find out they identified that way until they’d been active for months, because they’re not constantly rping with themselves or switching between ‘headmates,’ which makes me much more liable to believe they’re actually diagnosed. But then you’ve got the teenagers with 100+ personalities that they constantly switch back and forth from and yeah, no.

Ugh, I leave discord servers the second I see that shit. I can barely keep up with normal server chat speeds, I'm not playing that game in every general chat space. As a former RPer, please just RP, good god.
