I don't care for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

The excessive referencing is just obnoxious.

my personal moment of refusing to engage with JJBA came when I learned that Araki traced all of his characters and their iconic poses from Italian fashion magazines, and proceeded to make a career off tracing photos in almost every frame of the manga for the first arc. Like nah, dude, fuck off.

idk how this guy managed to "make it" off not actually drawing manga, let alone contorting a nonsensical plotline around said traced drawings. It should have been obvious from the getgo that he had no story to tell.

I love JJBA but it took me awhile to get into because I found the fandom really annoying. When I watched it with my wife at my own pace I loved it, it's definitely not for everyone though and as with any fandom, randomly bringing it into unrelated conversations gets old fast.

I love JJBA but I think it's mostly because I'm Italian and watching the first season with all the DIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO screaming broke something inside my brain. Dio means GOD in Italian and the way Jojo was screaming it was like a continuos and gratuitous blasphemy. + it's unapologetic trash and I love trash.
Oh and Vento Aureo with Giorno Giovanna in Napoli is fucking fantastic. I love that kid. The rest of it is pretty mid though especially Josuke's arc (Unbreakable Diamond?). Incredible villain, but also incredibly boring story 99% of time. Its best part was the duwang translation lol

I honestly have no idea why it exploded in the USA though. It was always very famous here in Italy, in fact one of the most popular manga since the 90s due to predictable reasons, possibly.

Lol Diamond is Unbreakable (Josuke arc) was the only arc i actually could enjoy and didnt quit after 2 episodes. Love how different tastes are.

oh thank god there are others beside me. one anon pointed out how he just steals shit and calls it his own: exactly! screw this one-trick-pony with his gross artstyle!
he's also ruined so much exposure for western artists because he just takes band or group names and their tracks for his characters. I hate it when I go to a song on youtube and the comments are JJBA reference spam! GTFOH!

To be fair, most of those bands do NOT need extra exposure and suffer because of a few braindead youtube comments.
