There's a lot to say about Naruto as a series, regarding story development, plot, character development, world-building, gender dynamics, trauma and conflict and how they does (not) affect the aforementioned, the visual design and aesthetics, the magic systej, how it draws on historical religious tradition for a lot of its imagery and ritual, and also how it fits into the shonen mold as far as overall development.

All of that is a worthwhile conversation.

But I will always have uncritical positive feelings towards it for the soundtrack alone. It was absolutely fucking brilliant.

I didn't have the album but when I was going through my Naruto phase, I used to listen to Sprouting by Yoshida Brothers a lot. It has strong Naruto vibes.

Oh Ronon/McKay was a fun pairing that got pretty popular towards the end of the show! But most of it was on LJ so I don't even know how you'd go about finding the good stuff nowadays. Which is sad.

Yeah, SGA was a really fun show until you actually thought about stuff and basically the Atlantis team was just a team of human rights violations and fuck ups. It's pretty dark. I don't think the writers had any clue what they were actually doing.

I haven't watched Eurovision since the UK lost with their best song in decades. Because of pity votes for Ukraine who couldn't host and should've had a participation trophy instead of being allowed to win. And now people are wound up about conflict and picking sides? I might give it a watch to be contrary.

I feel sorry for Enigma Boy/Terunosuke. He wasn't a nice guy but he didn't deserve to spend eternity being turned into an immobile, inanimate sentient book for taking a few hostages. Escpecially since the only other character in the series that gets a similar punishment is a Complete Monster who raped and killed countless people. Talk about Moral Dissonance and And I must scream.

I don't know whether I think it's funny or sad that after everything JK Rowling has done, there are still people who list the fact that she named an Asian character "Cho Chang" as one of her most deadly sins.

if JKR were more well liked, we'd all agree that she didn't put a lot of thought into the name, but that we could just decide the character has part Chinese and part Korean or Japanese heritage and move on.

Secrets you don't want to make...

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and while I'm definitely not the world's greatest expert at secret design, I'll try my best. Please note that long comment secrets can be difficult to make with a good end result. Most of the time, I'll give it a shot but might not be able to make secrets where the text is so lengthy that I can't fit it into the limited space.

I'm trying something new with the comment secret thread and extending the deadline to comment until Monday's post goes up. I'll monitor this thread until then, and hope the extra day will be more helpful for everyone.

I'm tired of authors' obvious size difference kinks in fiction. I don't mean a guy just being tall - it's the over-describing of how BIG the male character is and how tiny the female character is by comparison. Enough!
