I have very little memory of SGA. Could you give a rundown on why the Genii were the good guys to our guys being the bad guys?

They were basically setting up to do to the Wraith what humanity did to the Goauld in the Milky Way. Slow roll across the galaxy taking them out one-by-one whilst the Wraith were in hibernation. We even saw the Genii version of SG1, complete with S1 SG1 mission fuck up, in their first episode. And unfortunately, instead of The Asgard, or the Tollan, or even the damn Nox, the alien "allies" they met were the Atlantis assholes, and it was all downhill from there.
