Oh, this reminds me of seeing a comment flailing over the pool scene where Ilya asks Shane to buy the kids he raced their promised ice creams since Ilya didn't have his wallet on him. The comment tied it back to how Ilya has to financially support his family in Russia and gushes how Shane is the only one Ilya feels comfortable enough to ask for help when it comes to money. Which is just such a reach in and of itself but then someone posted the scene from the book which lead to more gushing in the comments and apparently everyone just overlooked that the excerpt invalidates the whole hypothesis - because the book scene ends with Ilya turning right around and asking another player for the ten bucks he needs.

I love the show myself and I do think that a lot of things are intentional - but not everything is and that's okay.

Exactly!
I love the show as well and of course I have some takes of my own, but those are valid. ;-) My excellent observations vs their crazed fangirling etc.

I get youuuu. I'm a Sw*ftie and I love the music and the musician but, like, not everything is an elaborately-planned Easter egg that she was working up to for over a decade. Sometimes, even as a fan, it gets to the point where it's just A Lot, and then it sails past that and becomes Too Much. I definitely have to take breaks from the fandom because it gets to be a little ridiculous sometimes!
