Re: Conversations with people online

I really agree a lot. Reddit and the popular social media sites are like... I dunno, they're so large and kind of anonymous that it's harder to actually connect with people. Most of the time people are just making drive by comments and then they move on with their day and there's no real interaction or connection. Some of the smaller subreddits are better if you can find one for your interests. But reddit as a whole is kind of a mess.

(And sometimes your nice, peaceful small subreddit slowly gets larger and larger until the vibe and customs change and it becomes full of typical redditor assholes 🥲)

And I haven't gotten into Discord either. It's a mix of a chat room and a forum and for me it doesn't work out very well. And I DESPISE the way people are trying to preserve information on there instead of on websites, the search function is terrible, it's harder to reference to stuff, etc. And like, if I need a guide for some part of a video game, I don't want to have to join some stupid random Discord just to view it one time. Like you said, they tend to be either really busy or dead. And I feel weird about jumping in the middle of a conversation.
