It's funny because in my culture, most of the offspring don't move out. Most households are multigenerational. Elderly parents are taken care of by parents/adult children while the elderly help watch little children/grandkids. But most of my classmates came from "when I finish high school I leave the nest" households, so I understood not to announce that my parents wouldn't let me move out until I got married, unless I wanted to be other-ed for it (as one of the few non-white kids at my school, that was a constant thing I had to work around).

So it's funny that when I hit my 20s I saw articles about how millennials were becoming roommates with their parents rather than leaving the nest.

NGL as someone who still lives with their parents, I'm glad that financially I benefitted from not moving out and that the "living in your parents' basement" thing became destigmatized....but at the same time, it's hard living with people.
