I hate the possessive/'touch her and die' trope in romance.

I understand why some people would like it, but it's off-putting to me. I'd find it oppressive to be with someone like that.

I realize people can find things hot in fiction that they wouldn't want in real life, and I think people would take this as me being unable to separate fiction from real life - but I just don't find it hot either!

I want to say that my more evil second Dark Urge run in BG3 has stagnated right at the start of the game because of game fatigue and having played it all before but the real reason?

I'm unhappy with my character's hairstyle.

Even with mods now on console, I just can't find any hairstyle that fits the Durge lore (non-too-recent massive head injury/surgery) in a way I want it to AND looks good to me. (I freely admit that it's kind of self-sabotage because I hate undercuts and refuse to choose an undercut hairstyle even if those come closest to what I imagine. Yes, this issue is entirely self-made.)

A niche internet entertainer I used to like watching recently changed his look. Like full on different hair color, different facial hair, different clothes and style completely. Went from kinda alt punk to boring conventional.

I never thought that'd matter so much but it turns out I can no longer see him as the same "character" so I've lost most of my interest.

I wish I knew why Maximus has had the weakest storyline in Fallout, I'm sure there is something which is making the writers struggle with providing him with good material as opposed to Cooper and Lucy; I just can't white see it.

Someone had a Bruce Springsteen secret from last week but I think it got lost (the Maximus one got double posted instead). If you drop it in the current submissions post I'll try to get it in tomorrow!

I agree! I also hate the "only ever truly loved one person, everyone else means nothing" trope for this reason! Your romantic partner can't and shouldn't be your whole world.

Worst canon version of this was in Fringe, where (due to universe merging shenanigans) Olivia gives up her memories of her sister and niece and other important people just to be in love with Peter and is happy about it. Urgh.

Everyone has different tastes. I hate it when it's m/f but love it when it's m/m.

Never say never-- you've got the rest of your life ahead of you to keep finding things that resonate with you! And if nothing is ever better than this... well, then you had something really special with TAZ that's unrepeatable, but other things will still move you even if it isn't in the same way.

Like, a big man being possessive over a small birdlike woman (she might be very strong/powerful/talented in some way but she's still so small, she's so small next to this giant man!), GROSS.

I love this trope in fiction sorry-not-sorry lol. I just think it's super hot. But I also think soulmates and live only for you are super hot too.

IRL all of it is super gross though, no argument there.

Some of my fictional ones are Nosleep Podcast, knifepoint horror, Wrong Station, We're Alive, and Wolf 359.

For other ones, Knowledge Fight, Casefile, Last Podcast on the Left, and My Brother, My Brother, And Me.

To me it depends entirely on the characters and the dynamics of the particular ship. Like, a ship with a female character who has basically been forced into living life a certain way/a role/following someone's footsteps or has been treated badly by the people around her and she finds a partner who cares about her and wants what's best for HER and wants to keep everyone else from trying to meddle in her life? Chef's kiss.

Right now I am absolutely obsessed with Conversations with Ghosts and remnants. Also I find it darkly funny how they are thematically connected

And yeah maximus's storyline is such a disappointment... In season one he was my favourite character and it looked like he had the potential of an amazing character but then what the fuck happened I have no idea. This season he's just... There? Barely? And emotionally very disconnected.
One of the biggest TV disappointment of the last few years...

But honestly for me all season 2 is kind of flat. Some revelations are kind of cool I guess, but I get no real emotion from anything. The only scene I really enjoyed was that of the "defenestration".

As someone who just can’t get into podcasts, I absolutely loved listening to them rip Ready Player One to shreds. I can’t remember now if they’re the ones who said it was Twilight for Gen X boys but mush of what they said was in that vein and I loved it.

I've relistened to Balance three times now and it still fills me with so much joy

X-Files, definitely. Couldn't really get into the newer episodes because it wasn't the same. Not sure if I'll check out the reboot, but if I do, it'll be with lowered expectations.

Well, 'canon' Durge is a Dragonborn, so maybe try that? No hair problems to worry about!
