I agree 100%. Is Viv perfect? No way. But is she JKR levels of bad? Fuck no.

Evidently Viv said something bad about trans people 15+ years ago one time in a private conversation but at least she hires trans people to play trans characters today. That's not at all the same as spewing transphobic nonsense to 100+k followers on a daily basis and donating large sums of money to anti-trans causes.

There's no comparison here. None whatsoever.

yeah i mean ...I dunno I prefer to judge on what I see now . and from what I see now... idk she hardly seems like the bad person some folks are insisting she is?

IDK i'm just a HazbinHellaverse fan who wants to be left alone to squee without being told I should be embarrassed for what I like

Damn, is that why people hate Viv? Saying one transphobic thing in private at a time there was no place in fandom where you couldn't find people gushing (or vomiting) about "traps" and using racist/ableist/homophobic slurs as if they were just mild/affectionate insults? The people with receipts must not have been in fandom then. Transphobia wasn't a thing one creator did, it was just a part of life in fandom. I participated. Then a few years ago I realized I'm trans. I don't care.

I remember those times bc back then I was calling out people who were using the r-slur and using "autistic" in a similar way.

But nowadays I wouldn't hold it against someone using those terms BACK THEN if they had grown from it. Because I don't wanna just judge people forever i actually WANT growth and change. I feeling like if you're calling people out on like transphobic language and other bigoted language you should hopefully be doing it to ENCOURAGE change.

but it seems like these receipt collectors don't care if someone changed between then and now.. they just wanna have reason to hold it over them :/ which doesn't seem to ACCOMPLISH anything.

Yeah, I personally am not going to hold that against someone. 15 years was a long time ago and depending on her age, she might have been quite young then. People get ridiculous with the receipts sometimes. I saw someone get dragged because they used "gay" as a pejorative when they were 14 years old. Another time, some celebrity said something shitty in the 80s, apologized for it, and some people were still holding it against him. At some point you have to accept that NOBODY is perfect and if we cancel everyone who has ever made a problematic comment, we will quite literally ALL be cancelled.
