Oh god, this reminds me of this absolutely entitled woman I worked with.

As background, we have a very strict break policy at my company. If you start you break, and then do work (even if it's five minutes before the end of your break), you have to start your break all over again. There had been so many emails and meetings about not bothering people when they're on break.

I had a break sign. It was bright orange. I had it out at the end of my desk pointed at the corridor. I was eating a burger. I hear a knock at the end of my cube and turn around with the burger in my hand. And there she was, staring at me. I stared back. She asked me to get info for her. I said, "I'm on break." The sign was out. The sign was orange. The burger was in my hand. She said, "I don't care."

Reported to the manager. Asshole.

I’m so, so sorry, nonnie. This was me growing up. I left home at 16 and never looked back. It wasn’t just this issue but everything was the same theme of having zero respect for my comfort and boundaries. And it wasn’t just because I was a kid; I wasn’t an only child but I was the only one in the house treated that way. I hope you can escape the person(s) doing this to you.

I have at least two band-aids on my hands at all times because ever since 2026 started or thereabouts I've gotten clumsy as fuck and I'm afraid I'm going to chop a whole finger off before too long. I don't know why I'm like this all of a sudden. Plus I just hate the way band-aids feel and that I keep having to change them because they fall off every time I wash my hands.

My boss is a fucking narcissist. I love everyone else I work with, but she's a real piece of work. Just to show how full of herself she is, she parks in the handicapped spot nearest the door in spite of not having a placard/license plate and not being handicapped. She just thinks it is her right because she is the boss. She also turns everything into being about herself, thinks we're all there to just make her look good, and thinks she's an amazing goddess teaching us mere mortals everything out of the goodness of her heart and can't possibly ever learn anything from us.

Also, she thinks anyone who is flustered around her is being aggressive.

I can't fucking stand her. I'm looking for another job. But right now I just have to suck it up and deal. But She's just such a genuinely terrible person.

I don't understand why nobody at my work has heard of headphones. Everyone plays their obnoxious videos at high volume all the damn time. I've tried telling them to please turn down the volume on their phones because I'm trying to read my book, but nobody really listens and it's driving me nuts. I wish it was cold enough for me to eat in my car so I wouldn't have to deal with it.

Ugh, yes. Same at my job. No one uses headphones AND they all have their phones set so they make noise for calls and notifications. So even when no one is watching Tik Tok or Facebook reels or whatever, there's constant dings and rings and "A news station alert has arrived" going off all day. Sometimes I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown because the noises just really stress me out after awhile.

This is gonna sound kinda whiny and entitled but

PLEASE someone GIVE ME A CHANCE AT a JOB.. I Know my mannerisms may be weird or offputting but ... I'm trying my BEST. it's rough job hunting and even when I get a job I fear someone in the job will decide they don't like me and pull some quiet firing bs to shove me out.

Ughh i just hope something happens soon. It's just gnawing at my brain and psyche that I can't get a job and then I spiral into despair .

On a related note to the first comment. I hate it when people talk to me when I'm in the bathroom. Unless there is some kind of emergency, please don't. No matter what I am doing in there, I do NOT want to talk. That's like the one place you should be able to have a private moment and be left alone, but some people want to insist on bothering you.

There is a woman at my job who is a bit strange, acts way too familiar with you when she barely knows you, calls you "Sweetheart" and "baby" and "beautiful" and other pet terms, and she apparently remembers what shoes people wear. Because she will talk to you while you are in the bathroom if she sees and recognizes your shoes under the stall. It's really uncomfortable.

Agreed. Just pretend there's an invisible wall of silence and you can't hear anything that happens inside the bathroom stall. I'm not interested in casual conversation when I'm in there. If you're out of toilet paper, you can ask, but otherwise, JUST WAIT DAMMIT.

My mom is bad about doing this to me, and I hate it so much. I totally agree that I want to be left alone to do whatever I'm in there to do. Nothing is more awkward than sitting on the toilet while she's in the hallway talking about something. Or if I am brushing my teeth, or worse yet, have mouthwash in my mouth. Then I have to spit it out to answer her. It is so frustrating.

I'm a decent cook, but I'm usually short on time and energy so all I want to do is make dinner and eat it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have some help in the kitchen. But if you don't normally cook, then please get out and shut up until dinner is ready. I don't have the patience to wait and watch you clumsily hack an onion into pieces for 10 minutes when I can dice it in less than 60 seconds. If you "help", you'd be slowing the whole process down to a painful, ineffective crawl. Don't make me explain this to you.

If you're truly, sincerely dying to help, practice your knife skills and LEARN HOW TO COOK.

Maybe that's one of the things they're trying to do, alongside/because they want to help?

It sounds like you don't have the patience to teach them though. Maybe when you've calmed down and don't feel like stabbing them, suggest a cooking class or at least books or youtube videos or something.

I am in this online some basic table top gaming group. There is a some turn over going on. And more and more people are just being "rules can fuck off I am doing what I want". And for the record we discuss pre-game are we going to bend some rules or not. Yesterday one member rage-quit because her round was disqualified and we tried to explain why but she just noped out. Now there is a discourse going on.
I wanted to say that I am trying not to engage.
Annnnnnddddd I did. Here goes my Sunday fighting about shitty games rules.

This is a different anon, just in case anyone thinks this sounds familiar.

Oh boy...all this attention on the Epstein files is making me confront some dark stuff about my upbringing. I know not all communities are sex abusing cult rings centered on patriarchal narcissism, but...just my luck to yet again get a shitty draw in the game of life lol =(

I'll be OK. It's just a lot is going on, and of course confronting trauma isn't something you can fit in on a certain date for a certain time before being done with it.

It also sucks that I kinda do want to follow the story as more information comes out but I don't want to look at the material myself and I don't want to talk to other people about it. But I can't help but want to talk about it. I hate this and fuck the world for being so fucked up.
