1 - Yes. Although when I started reading fic 25 years ago it was all m/m. The older I've gotten, the more I've drifted into f/m. Now it's pretty much 50/50.

2 - I did when I was a teenager for a few years. Then I realised I was terrible.

3 - I don't communicate much with fandom, I mostly stick to fic. When I have done, I've quickly been turned off if and left the fandom due to them. 911 being a prime example.

4 - Fantasy and representation.

5a - Less of - a character has a 'sexual awakening' and has an entire personality shift because of how 'repressed' they were before.

5b - More of - the opposite of above. characters realising that suddenly liking someone who also has a penis, doesn't actually change anything about who they are.

I'm not very talkative in fandom myself, part of why I wanted to make a thread to chat. I feel like I've not seen that sexual awakening trope in awhile, is it still popular?

lol I saw someone do the sexual awakening thing irl. one day he was an average dude and the next he told everyone he's gay and did a 180 into a flaming drama queen that made everything about sex and how much he liked dicks because that was his real repressed self all along

turns out i didn't particularly care for his real repressed self all along and we stopped being friends. he couldn't even blame it on homophobia because i was out the whole time. most entire personality shifts are either people trying far too hard, or making their shiny newly found identity label their entire personality and neither end well

'bro you don't have to try so hard' would be an interesting thing to happen in a fic but never happens
