I was born in the early 1980s, and yeah, I too watched this show as a kid :D. Anytime I was over at my grandma's house on Saturdays, I'd watch it with her, 'cause it was one of her favorite shows. We did the same thing with "Joy of Painting" episodes.

Even now my mom will still occasionally stop and watch an episode on PBS on the weekends and I'll catch some of it with her. Just brings back childhood memories.
