Nostalgia hits us all a lil different, doesn't it? For me, Lawrence Welk was the only thing on our 4-channel TV in 1980 on Saturday nights (besides news, I guess) and it signalled that my parents were getting ready to go out and the babysitter was on the way. I associate its mere existence with the reek of too much perfume and the tv dinners heating in the oven. Also, when you live in Wisconsin there's only so much polka you can take.
