Re: Secrets you don't want to make...
(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 05:53 am (UTC)(link)Yep, this. My experience with haters has been that if you say "I don't watch that show" they'll drop it. But stans? If you say "I don't watch that show" that just opens you up to them detailing every single reason why you SHOULD be watching the show, even if you make it clear that it isn't your thing.
Re: Secrets you don't want to make...
(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 06:00 am (UTC)(link)'Starting with the given that haters and stans are about equally bad, would you rather be A) harassed to make yourself like something you don't care about at all or B) harassed to drop something you like?' and then it's YMMV neither are better or worse it's more about personal tolerance.
But people went wild.
Re: Secrets you don't want to make...
(Anonymous) 2026-02-21 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)Situation A is that you don't care about the thing. Situation B is that you do care about the thing, either by liking it or disliking it.
So, in situation A, if you tell the hater that you don't care about the thing, they drop it. If you tell the stan, they stan at you. Clearly, in this case, the stan is more annoying.
In situation B, both the stan and the hater will try to change your mind if you disagree with them and either leave you alone or try to convince you to like or dislike the thing even more if you agree with them. YMMV on who's more annoying in this case.
So you've got OP, who clearly states that they're talking about Situation A, and a bunch of people losing their shit in the comments because they insist on making the post about Situation B. It's the kind of reading comprehension you usually see on tumblr.
